Project Spotlight: Outdoor Kitchen

Tucked away on the shore of the Shrewsbury River in Little Silver, Amanda Haytaian of House of Cline Design created an attractive and functional outdoor kitchen, perfect for entertaining. Creating the overall design by staying true to the style of the home, a white Federalist Colonial with Black shutters, she found the perfecting pairing at Nemo Tile’s Red Bank, NJ showroom with our Aster Collection!

Project Spotlight: Glazed Brick Country Kitchen

When it came to designing the stylish kitchen of this stylish home, Philip M Rossillo, RA Principal of PRDG architecture + design, shares that they started with a traditional, white country-esque kitchen and went from there. A white baseline aesthetic works nicely with this home and in the kitchen design, Rossillo started with the backsplash first, rather than letting it be a later decision.

After considering many backsplash options, the designer pinpointed exactly what the homeowner wanted to achieve with Nemo Tile’s Cambridge grey glazed brick tile in color ‘smoke.’ This tile has a softer, more natural man-made feel. The backsplash was finished with a grey grout and stacked in an offset pattern throughout to give a real, old world feel to it, which works beautifully with a traditional country kitchen.

“The glazed ceramic material goes from lighter to darker with the shadows and movements from the natural sunlight and the under-cabinetry lighting providing a wonderful color range. It’s really great how it all came together,” says Rossillo.

The decorative kitchen ceiling was designed to be structural to help break up the scale. The ceiling ribs activates the eye, beautifully interacts with the trim and white kitchen cabinetry and gives a European feel to the room by adding scale, intrigue and proportion to the space.

Project Spotlight: Ultimate Spa Bathroom with Sweeten

After over a decade of living in her Central Park West apartment, Leslie and her husband were ready to say goodbye to the outdated, 80’s-influenced master bathroom and adjacent powder, and hello to serene spa-like oasis combining the two! Working with Sweeten, a free service matching renovators with vetted general contractors, they started their transformation with Nemo Tile!

After gutting both bathrooms, their Sweeten contractor started to transform the space with double sinks and minimalist wall-mounted faucets, a lacquered vanity, gorgeous recessed lights and a full-length medicine cabinet. To complement the tawny lacquered vanities, Nemo Tile’s porcelain Oxy Triblend mosaic were used on the floor as an accent to the Oxy 24×48 large format tiles in Royal White!

Oxy is a unique porcelain tile that mimics painted sheet metal and the effects of oxidation on real metal. This unique tile turns ceramics into a furnishing element with a futuristic look that is both feisty and full of character. The Royal White color chosen for this space creates the perfect serene, spa-feel the owners desired!

For the modern wet room—an open shower space without a shower curb—Nemo Tile’s Oxy Triblend mosaic creates beautiful detailing on the floor and shelf insets, while the large format Oxy tile provides great balance. The enormous wet room, which Leslie notes as the best design element, can serve as a steam room, shower, and bathtub. Leslie said about the renovation: “I wanted the space to feel like a spa, and it does!”

Sweeten handpicks the best general contractors to match each project’s location, budget, and scope, helping through project completion. Follow the blog for renovation ideas and inspiration, and when you’re ready to renovate, start your renovation on Sweeten!
