Project Spotlight: Gorgeous Grays & Geometric Dining

The homeowners of this ultra-chic NJ home worked with Philip M Rossillo, RA Principal of PRDG architecture + design for both the architecture and the interior design to create a gorgeous home environment.   “The interior wound up being in the same conversations as we discussed the exterior. This gave us the luxury to overlap a lot of the projects,” says Rossillo.   The general idea of this custom home was to have an open floor plan with the spaces essentially rolling into each other. With the home’s dramatic entry into its traditional floor plan, the idea of this showstopper dining room is to immediately catch your eye as you come in through the front door and walk past it into the main space of the house.   Purposefully designed to enter from the kitchen through the formal butler’s pantry, Rossillo wanted to create a more intimate space for the formal dining room that was a little heavier than the other spaces. Once you are in the dining room, the coffered ceiling, heavy stone wall, sleek fireplace, dark wood floor and rich wall texture and surfaces lets your eye travel throughout the space and creates a heavier room that you want to sit down in. The large format Sahil Direto limestone in 12x24 was used on the dining room feature wall to beautifully compliment the in-wall gas fireplace and add a soft bright hue to the space. Set with no grouted joints, Rossillo had the stone stacked with mitered corners to give the appearance of each piece sitting on top of each other for a monolithic impression. According to the architect designer, “Marble or mosaic would have been out of place in this space. Sophisticated limestone in a gentle way was the intent.” The formal dining room was specifically designed to be at the front of the house.  Not only do you have a great view out when sitting down at the table, guests as they approach the house from the outside, can peek in and see this beautiful design as wonderful tease to what’s inside.   NEMO Products Used: Limestone Fireplace Wall: Sahil Directo limestone in 12x24   Vendors: Architect & Designer: Philip M Rossillo of PRDG architecture + design
