Project Spotlight: The Fitzpatrick Hotel

The Fitzpatrick Grand Central is a hotel located in central Manhattan, New York City that provides warm Irish hospitality in an elegant atmosphere. The hotel recently completed a full 2 year renovation of guestrooms, corridors, and public spaces including 150 bathrooms.

“In terms of design, we wanted a modern but still elegant look, with good light, and a great colorful wall tile as the focal point of the room. We think that we achieved all of these design goals with our new bathroom.” says Diana Cerquera, Project manager for the Fitzpatrick Hotel.

For the walls Nemo Tile’s Tread in Scrape perfectly mimics the textured look of poured concrete in a durable porcelain format. The Scrape planks contain a multitude of textures and hue variations for added interest while the large format planks create movement and the appearance of a larger space.

“As a hotel, our focus is always on the guest and what is important to them, even when it comes down to design. In terms of function, we know a few things based on years of guest feedback. For our guests, the most important thing in a hotel bathroom is cleanliness, so we wanted a design that is not only easy to clean, but one that also makes our strict cleanliness standards very apparent to the guest. We wanted a design with open storage, so that guests can easily see the plush towels, hair dryers and great bath amenities that we stock our bathrooms with. We also wanted open spaces for our guests to comfortably place their own personal items in.”

For the floor Nemo Tile’s Volcano range is reminiscent of natural stone, with soft and elegant shades on the surface. Volcano has a timeless yet modern appeal that goes well in this contrasting light color to the slate greys of the Tread tile on the walls.
